Breast Implant Size Determination
What size bust do you
want to have?

When you are having a
discussion how large of a bust enhancement you should
have, your surgeon will discuss implant size.
Implants come as a measurement of volume, or in
"CCs". For example 300cc, 360 cc, 420 cc. Some
implants have fixed volumes, others have adjustable capabilities
and may have additional saline added during the surgical
procedure to enhance symmetry. Your surgeon by experience knows
what types of body frames take what size implants. The
plastic surgeon will also take into account your desire for a
specific bust size in terms of traditional A, B, C, D cup
sizes. The ultimate decision is up to you. Just
realize that if you are not satisfied with the size, meaning
they are too large or too small, that additional surgery will
have to be performed at additional cost, and additional
risk. Sometimes showing your surgeon pictures that you
have seen in magazines , or on the Internet will give them a better idea of your
expectations.
It is important not to expect
perfection.

Rice Baggie or
Balloons
This technique is should not
outweigh your surgeons recommendations.
Fill a plastic baggie or nylon
stocking with rice. Place it in a sports type bra.
Each cc = approximately 1
milliliter (ml)
250 ml = 1 cup
500 ml = 2 cups (1 Pint)
Understand, that the placement, under the muscle
or over the muscle, and the type of implant, round or anatomical
will change the final size. Usually, the final implant size will
be 10-15% larger in cc of saline than that taken up by the rice.
Again, your surgeon has the most experience with body types, and
will have a good idea regarding the size appropriate for
you. It is a good idea to try the above method with
different types of clothing. The other important approach
is to ask women that you know have had the procedure what size
they decided on, and whether they are happy with that decision.
Ask them if they did it all over, would they go bigger or
smaller, and why?
Some people recommend looking at men's magazines
and taking a picture of the size breasts you want to be to your
surgeon. We don't recommend this, as many
men's magazines have manipulated photos and reality is often
airbrushed. Instead we recommend that you print off some before
and after photo galleries from a plastic surgery site, and use
these in discussions with your cosmetic surgeon. These photos are
of real time patients, not the photo shop type. Also remember,
perfection doesn't exist, and while most people think that the
body has perfect symmetry,
breasts
are not identical twins, they are sisters.
